Senior DHS officials admitted to Congress that over a two year period there were 800 hacker break-ins, virus outbreaks and in one instance, hacker tools for stealing passwords and other files were found on two internal Homeland Security computer systems. I guess it’s true what they say … a mechanic’s car is always the last to get fixed.”

    I don’t know how often people say, well if we don’t have anything to hide, why would we mind DHS monitoring all of our communications? So what if they have a complete record of the decrypted communcations between me and my online banking the other day?! And then I say; because if they have it, the bad guys have it. Be they terrorists or be they international cyber-criminals. I think it’s potentially the biggest reason I’m against government intrusions into our private & personal lives: They can’t be trusted to keep information safe. Especially when it comes to our own privacy, why do they care if our bank account gets hijacked? All they care about is being able to go back & run a check to see if you’ve been giving money to “TEH BADd GUISE!!!one@#!!eleven!!1^%“.

    Fuck that. So here’s one single article that recently happened to get a decent amount of publicity that’s a good enough example of the type of problem I mean.
