Once again thanks to Shelly Batts over at The Retrospectacle for blogging about stuff that, though geeky and interesting, doesn’t come up on my usual Nerd-Darâ„¢. In my visit today I notice I’ve missed a few interesting tidbits, but the latest news first…
I like to call it Spontanious Reproduction. But then, I’m kind of a jackass who likes to mis-place terminology for kicks.
In any case it refers to things like this article: [LINK]
and these Biology Letters.
So far the other article I had to go back and check out was on the acoustic properties of ‘whale song’ and that jazz, brought up by the recent whale goings-ons: [LINK]
There’s other fun stuff I’d like to write about but I’m too busy. So here’s the slashdot article on the push for email taxes, heh. That will be the day. I’d flip out. No seriously, the whole world would have hell to pay with me on an angry rampage over that shit: [LINK]
But of course that is probably just some random thing the idiot barfed out from memories of the old email tax hoaxes in the back of his mind.
So I caught word on slashdot [article link] that the Scintz’ had this guy lockered up for ‘threatening a religion’. At this moment the first thing that pops into my mind is “wait a minute, so really, numbers (headcount) and money make a religion?”
It’s not a damned religion! I need to get cracking on my own religion. I can come up with something better than these lunatics.
So the slashdot article reads like so;
“An online critic of Scientology was confronted at a routine hearing Tuesday with surprise arrest warrants and thrown into jail. Six years as a fugitive ended in February. (After picketing a Scientology complex in 2000 over the unexplained death of a woman there, he’d been arrested for ‘threatening a religion’ over a Usenet joke about ‘Tom Cruise Missiles.’) But 64-year-old Keith Henson had been out on bail, and was even scheduled to address the European Space Agency conference on Space Elevators. He’s a co-founder of the Space Colony movement, and one of the original researchers at Texas Instruments. In this interview he discusses both space-based solar energy and his war with the Scientologists — just a few days before he was arrested.”
Wow, a joke. I bet it was even clever. Shows how far that will get you. I’ll have to toss this one in the thought crime category. Criminal Levels of Intelligence.
You’ve heard of the war on drugs and the war on terror – don’t forget the war on thought and intelligence! Because of people’s nature to abuse everything I see looking down on drugs, in general. Since the birth of humanity gluttony has been a defining trait. But when you lump it in with terrorism, then broaden terrorism to include thoughts and use it to protect religion – I can understand the intent may be to force tolerance (which doesn’t work anyway) but then on top of it all to twist it around and use it to defend SCIENTOLOGY!?
I can hear fucking Bush’s take on it already… “We’re not against thought and intelligence! We’re all about facts and the love of God! Isn’t that what Scientology is afterall? ‘S. C. I. E. N.’ you know, like ‘science’ – if it’s about science, it must be fact! I bet they have a real smart God. Lets hear it for tolerance!”
hey hey wait, I have a rebuttal: A BIG FAT FUCK YOU!
Holy shit, it’s a good thing no one knows this site exists. A large enough number of the right people could have me right in jail for my opinions and ranting!
The smallest nobody on the planet and one of the top 100 least dangerous people out of six and a half billion, doesn’t matter. Anyone who’s openly a promoter of open thinking, evolving opinion, knowledge and reality obviously needs to be sent out into the corn field with all the other ‘bad’ people.
I love the headline of the story mentioned too: “Scientology Fugitive†Arrested
These pricks have so much muscle. I’ve been hearing it for years. They’re fuckin’ terrifying. (Wonder if maybe it has something to do with all the rich & famous members?)
The header reads: [article link]
On Friday, Arizona police arrested a 64-year-old man — a fugitive since 2001 in a bizarre war that mixes free speech, copyright law, and the Church of Scientology.
This pretty much tells me that the spirit of copyright law is certainly as much in danger of being completely destroyed as it seems, free speech is coming to an end and… well I always knew Scientology was the antichrist.
Cocksuckers.
The police tipsters were the Scientologists themselves, who had already been the targets of an annoying picketing campaign by Henson over the death of a woman near their complex. Besides Henson’s inability to acquire long-range missiles, his wife notes bitterly that it would be impossible for any church members in the complex to feel threatened by the internet posts, since they aren’t even allowed to access the internet.
Wait… What!? Not even allowed to access the internet?! Cripes! What is it with these people?
Of particular amusement is one of the finest examples I recall seeing in awhile, of what I think the use of the law has some to. I believe far too often the letter of the law is stretched to nail people for entire other reasons;
EFF Executive Director Shari Steele argued that Free speech was at stake in his case: “This trial seems intended to punish Mr. Henson for his opposition to a powerful organization using the barest thread of legal justification to do so.â€
As usual, vids being taken by idiots, you’ll probably want to kill the volume to minimize your exposure – but the videos are funny.
The licking never ends…
This cat is so stuck in a loop.
Hehehe, somebody turn the faucet on…
Sheesh…
This one is just goofy. Bengals vs Exercise Wheel.
Now here’s 3 trying to use one wheel!
A bengal knee deep in a tub chasing her tail, holding on to it and looking really confused about where it’s coming from.
The cute prize goes to this vid.
Also pretty cute though…
Endless hours of cat fun, on youtube.
